At Home Pamper Sesh

It’s been a busy weekend of house cleaning, laundry, and HOA board member duties.  I spent most of yesterday checking sprinkler systems throughout the development.  I discovered that my house is the only property with a totally malfunctioning sprinkler head.  By malfunctioning, I mean that I’m totally missing a head and everytime the system runs it creates a mini pond in my yard.  Totally explains the hole that I’ve been continuously trying to fill with dirt that just keeps returning…….sometimes with houses the struggles are never ending.

It also turns out that if you ever need to impress several middle aged to retirement aged men, just show off your sprinkler adjustment skills and chat about the renovations you’re doing to your house.  If you need an ego boost beyond that, I suggest putting House Hunters on Netflix.  Nothing will make you feel more like a boss ass lady than watching helpless people turn down houses because the paint isn’t a color they like.

Despite being a boss level sprinkler adjuster, I love having my nails done.  If they aren’t done, I feel naked.  Plus there’s the added terror of maybe breaking an unprotected nail.  THE HORROR!!  I started getting gel polish manicures when I still lived out in Rapid City.  I worked at the blood bank there, and regular polish was just not getting the job done.  The vision of having a salaried position that allows me to get biweekly manicures is just not coming together for me, so I decided to buy a home gel system.  It’s easy, cheap, and let’s me update my nails anytime I want.

I bought a Sensationail brand starter kit which came with everything you need to get started.  However, the lamp will work with any brand gel polish.  I have colors from Sensationail, Shellac, OPI, Gelish, Red Carpet, and Sally Hansen.  Any brand LED or UV lamp will work, just follow the time directions for any lamp you pick.

Things You Will Need:

  • Lamp
  • Nail Prep
  • Polishes — Base coat, color, and top coat
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Manicure Tools
  • Paper Towel

Start by removing any existing polish, and file and prep cuticles as you would for a normal manicure.  Gel will be thicker than normal polish, which is nice for strengthening nails and helping them grow, however it does come with some drawbacks.  If you don’t properly prep your cuticles and pay attention to the placement of the polish, you’ll get a ridge on the back of your nails that will more than likely catch on things and peel up.

Once nails are shaped as desired, wipe firmly with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils.  Once this is done, don’t touch your nails.  Apply the nail prep solution.  I’m not sure if this step is critical, but my kit came with the solution and I know that when I’ve had my nails done in salons, this step is always performed.

Gel polish is atleast a 4 layer process, so make sure the layers are thin.  Start with a thin layer of the base coat on each nail.  I generally do my 4 left hand fingers in a group, my two thumbs on their own, and then the right hand fingers.  I don’t like having all my nails wet at one time.  I cure my base coat for 30 seconds with the lamp I have, but again most come with directions, so just follow those.  Also, some lamps are larger which would allow you to place your full hand in at one.  Your color of choice should be applied in 2-3 thin coats.  Don’t worry if the color goes on a bit streaky.  It’s some sort of gel polish miracle, but it always levels and smoothes while it cures.  Again, be careful to stay a bit away from your cuticles, and be sure to run the polish lightly alone the front end of your nail to help seal them.  Also, because the gel dries as soon as it’s cured, it’s important to clean up any polish mistakes before placing your hand back in the lamp.  I picked up a cheap metal manicure tool for cleaning underneath nails, but I find it works really well if I happen to get any polish on the sides of my nail.  A tooth pick or orange stick cuticle pusher would work well also.

My color polishes need to be cured for 1 minute.  Once you’re satisfied with the color, apply a thin coat of top coat.  My system has an all in one top/base coat that would only need to be cured for 30 seconds, but I cure the top coat for a full minute.  This top/base coat works with all the color polish brands I have, so don’t feel like you need to match brands or anything like that.

Sometimes I get a bit fancy with my manicures.  This week I used a small brush to apply zebra stripes using two other gel colors.  You could apply these either directly on top of your color before applying the top coat, or you can apply them onto the top coat after it’s cured and then apply an additional top coat over the top of the design.  I tend to prefer the second option….because the color underneath has been sealed, if you mess up on the design it can be easily removed before curing and won’t have any effect on the polish color below.  Just remember to cure your hand again after you’ve applied the design and before you apply the top coat in either case.  That’s pretty much it.  Once the top coat has been cured, wipe them again with rubbing alcohol and you’re good to go.  No more dry time, or fear of easily broken nails.  I can grow my natural nails out longer than I used to wear my fake nails, and I almost never worry about them breaking.  I have broken some, but only doing atypical things around the house that most people wouldn’t subject their nails to anyway.

You can see on my pointer finger where I got a ridge of polish on the sidewall of my nail.  If you’re careful, you can sometimes pull the polish down towards your finder pad and just that ridge will flake off.  Just be sure to do it slowly so as not to peel off too much of the color.

At $9-$15 per color you can’t really beat the price of these at home systems.  Yes, you miss out on those fabulous hand massages that come with salon manicures, and yes it does take more time and a certain level of skill and practice to get a good seal and clean edges.  However, it also allows me to spend a night every couple weeks doing something for myself while drinking wine and watching a movie.  Not that I don’t drink wine or watch movies other times, but it’s also a nice creative break for me.

In the coming weeks I’ll add a removal tutorial and a traditional polish to gel polish tutorial so you don’t feel like you have to totally abandon your nail polish collection….which is great!  I think once you try this, you’ll never go back to regular polish.

So Much Time for Activities

Well, I finally finished graduate school!

Graduation was yesterday, however I didn’t go attend the ceremony.  It felt weird go to sit with a bunch of people I’ve never met, never even actually seen, and don’t know at all. Since I did my degree entirely online, it just seemed like it would have been weird to show up only for graduation.  Plus, I’ve already had a SDSM&T graduation, and commencements in general are boring. Besides, gradation robes are not that attractive, and I don’t look great in orange. The hood color for engineering is orange, and I’m not a warm color sorta girl generally!

I graduated from high school pre-facebook, thank goodness, so I don’t have any pictures to share from that day.  I did wrangle up some photos from my previous SDSM&T graduation day. Just picture me in black robes with much better hair, and you’ll have the general idea!!

I still really don’t know why I thought that short hair was a good look for me.  Mostly at that time in my life it gave me chipmunk face.  The second round of braces, which were removed shortly before graduation, didn’t really help the chipmunk face either.

Anyway, here’s to another chapter of life done.  Also, if I ever happen to mention that going back to school sounds like a good idea again, someone please just smack me upside the head.  I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do with my fancy new Master’s of Science in Engineering Management, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I go along.

In totally unrelated news, I’d like to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all the awesome moms out there.  Whether your babies are humans or furry four legged friends, you all do an amazing job and deserve to be recognized!!

Thanks Momma, for all the love and support!

What’s In My Makeup Bag?!

Since I was recently in the Hills with the girls, and we spent a lot of time talking about makeup….I’m sure the boys were thrilled…..I decided I’d write up a “What’s in my Makeup Bag” post.  Granted, makeup is not a one size fits all situation, and everyone has their specific things, but it just seemed like something fun to write.  I have really oily skin.  It isn’t really what I’d call sensitive, but I am prone to breakouts.  These are the tips, tricks, and products that work well for me.  They probably wouldn’t work well if you have dry skin, but that’s why small pieces of heaven like Sephora and Ulta exist, so everyone can get what they need for their skin type.

Here they are….in all their dirty, sorta worn out glory!

I know that everyone says that using good brushes is key.  I mean the best foundation in the world will still look like butt if you paint it on with your fingers.  Last year I wrote that I was going to try being responsible and save up money for new makeup brushes.  Welp, I didn’t!  So, most of my brushes are very old and not high quality.  I have:

  • A set of 3 eyeshadow brushes I was given when I graduated college
  • A large, poofy fan brush for highlighting from Walmart, I believe the brand is Eco Tools
  • A blush brush I’ve had since high school
  • A Bare Minerals Kabuki brush for foundation and powder
  • A nice eyeliner brush from Sephora for those days when I feel like slicing people with a wing
  • A cheap concealer brush that I use to set my underage concealer
  • A large powder brush I occasionally use to blend out blush and bronzer or apply all over powder if I get too oily
  • A very old eyeliner brush that I use to fill in my brows.

All in all, it’s sorta a sad situation.  However, they work, and I’ll maybe make more of an effort to start collecting some nicer brushes.  All my girl friends have nice brushes in nice brush rolls, and it makes me a bit jelly honestly!

Face Prep

I use my Clarisonic Mia at night with the acne brush head and the Peter Thomas Roth 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid Acne Wash, and then I moisturize with Burt’s Bees Sensitive Lotion.  If I’m feeling old I might throw on my Bliss Fabulous Everyday Eye Cream, but generally I forget.  When the winter weather starts getting particularly harsh, I’ll add couple drops of Josie Maran Argan Oil to my nightly moisturizer.  I know it sounds super counter-intuitive for oily, acne prone skin, but trust me….happily oiled and moisturized skin is much better for your acne.  I’ve been using the same skin care routine for a couple years now, and my skin is so much better than it used to be.

In the mornings I just wash my face with a dime sized amount of coconut oil.  This makes Scout super happy because she gets a little glob of oil to get her day started.  She has bad joints and it’s supposed to help….idk, but she likes it and it’s part of our morning routine now so that’s that.  In the winter I will throw a small amount of the Burt’s Bees lotion under my makeup because SoDak winters can be brutal on your skin.  In the summer though I find that the coconut oil does enough.

“Eskewz me, I iz here for my morning morsel….k thankz!”

I have a few different face masks, but my all time favorite is GlamGlow Super Mud Clearing Treatment.  It’s expensive!!!….but, it’s tough enough to clear up acne spots, but gentle enough that it doesn’t stress out my skin. It’s a must have for me!  I try and use it once a week, but I sometimes get lazy.  I also have the GlamGlow eye masks.  I’ve tried other GlamGlow masks and they are all very good, any would be a good choice depending on your skin.    If I get a particularly tenacious breakout, I’ll use the Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick on it and that really dries them out and clears them up quickly.

Makeup: The Base

These are the products I use everyday!  I have some different things that I will use occasionally, but these are my ride or dies and the things that I always repurchase.  These form the base that all the rest of my “fun” makeup goes on top of!  I’ve listed them in the order I use them in the mornings, after I’ve washed my face.

Concealer – Bare Minerals Correcting Concealer in Light 1

Foundation – Bare Minerals Mineral Foundation in Fairly Light or Medium Beige

Powder – Bare Minerals Original Powder (Just over the T-Zone)

Under Eye Concealer/Highlight – Garnier Clearly Brighter Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller

Setting Powder – Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent (For setting under eyes or taking down oil over the whole face at the end of the day.)

Brows – Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Dark Brown

Bronzer/Contour – Rimmel London Natural Bronzer in Sun Light

Blush – Nars Orgasm

Highlight – Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer in Tiki (I know its a “bronzer” but it has no color really only highlight.  I would never use it as a bronzer….you’d be covered in shimmer.)  I also have Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light.  I’ll occasionally use it as a highlighter or a more all over powder if I feel like I need a special boost.  They seem super hokey until you put them on, and then it’s just like a Ta-Da moment!  They are also a good choice for oily skin as they aren’t super shimmery.  If I wear a straight up highlighter, like a Becca Champange Pop, I sorta look like I’ve rubbing my face on a stripper within 20 minutes.  I just get way too much shine going on!!

Mascara – Maybelline’s Volume Express: The Falsies Flared and Volume Express: The Mega Plush, both in blackest black. (I have baby eyelashes so I wear multiple coats of both….EVERYDAY!)

Eyeshadow Primer – Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original or Sin….just depends what tube I grab.

Setting Spray – Urban Decay All-Nighter or De-Slick…I can’t really tell a difference between them, but I do think they help my makeup stay where I put it.

Makeup: The Fun

Ahhhh the fun stuff.  These are the products I love, but they change everyday.  Eyeshadows, lip glosses, eyeliner….these really “make the look”!

Eyeshadows – I own mostly all Urban Decay shadows.  They just seem to work for me better than most other brands.  I own the Naked 2 palette and the new Gwen Stefani palette.  I also got a free mini palette of purpley gray neutrals.  Between those three, I feel pretty much set…..for now…..  I tend to stick to a pretty neutral eye, but it’s almost always smoked out and dark.

Lip Products – I don’t think you can ever have enough lip products.  A different lip can change the whole look of you makeup!  I’ll just list off my current favs, but I own plenty more beyond this list!

  • OCC Lip Tar in Interlace
  • Gerard Cosmetics Lip Stick in 1995
  • Urban Decay Revolution Lip Gloss in Apocalypse
  • Fresh Sugar Lip Balm—-sometimes you need a natural look
  • Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua (I didn’t pick the name!)
  • Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Samantha—perfect to add gloss and some plump over any other lip product

Liners – My go to liner is Sephora brand Nano Eyeliner pencil in black.  I’ve also really been loving the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils.  They seem to stay on my oily face longer than the Sephora one, even if I don’t use a primer under them.  I have two that came as samples, one is a dark gold and the other is a dark-gray purple.  Once my current black liner runs out I’ll be buying a black 24/7 Glide On pencil.  I seem to be sensing an Urban Decay trend in my makeup!

Some man designed my bathroom…..not enough room!!

A New Year with the Bear Cubs

Well here we are kids, the first blog of the new year!  I feel like I should have some sort of deep, philosophical wisdom to impart, but I don’t really.  I’m not usually one for setting resolutions  Personally I think they just lead to disappointment.  So, this is my new mantra….

I did spend an awesome New Year’s weekend out in the hills with most of my favorite girls.  I stayed out in a cabin with my Chem Smarty Pants and The Boys…..and the bear cubs……fucking bear cubs ruining our groove!  I know that you’re probably thinking to yourself, “I love bear cubs!  They are adorable, and I just want to squeeze them!”  I have those same feelings about actual bear cubs.  These however, were not regular, cute bear cubs.  These were annoying, basement room stealing, underage so no you may not come to the bars with us, semi weird, and demanding bear cubs.

The saga begins with The Cubs and The Boys car pooling to the Hills from Nebraska.  Now, unbeknownst to everyone else, the Bear Cubs had to go back to Nebraska a day early…..they knew…..AND JUST DIDN’T TELL ANYONE!  So there we all are, having a grand time, and it had to get cut short because of the cubs. To add extra annoyance to the situation, the cubs didn’t help us clean up at all.  They basically cleaned up their little basement cave, came upstairs, sat on the couch, and watched everyone else work.    This cause Lil B and I to have to run a reconnaissance mission for half a pan of lasagna and some snacks because our group lunch trip to Lewie’s threw off their cleaning groove.  Youths…..I’m telling ya!

These sassy cubs at least fake taking out the garbage!

However, we all still had an amazeballs time and the bear cubs aren’t gonna ruin that.  I got to go to dinner with my Lil B and her family Saturday night, and I attempted to teach her littlest to play tic tac toe……it went…..decently haha.  Saturday night I spent in Rapid with my Sexy Russian and her fiancee, so the weekend was a success.  Actually, it was one of the more successful trips I’ve had out there in a long time.

The other plus side of being in the Hills was that I didn’t see anyone I didn’t want to see and I ate Lewie’s twice….so gym time fun time for me in the new year!

My old phone was mostly on the fritz the whole time I was there, so I didn’t get that many pictures taken.  I did have a new phone waiting for my at Momma’s, but the case hadn’t arrived and I didn’t wanna chance dropping a brand new phone during our shenanigans.

When you’re tall and Paul cuts off your head…..still better than the first picture of just our boobs……boys!

When you’re being tipsy and mysterious behind your phones…’s like modern societies version of the fan.  I know I know….I was keeping it super classy with the PBR, but you’ll also notice that we had lots of water glasses.  With age comes wisdom, and with wisdom comes hangover avoidance strategies!

Ahh the Social Club, always a solid choice!

We have no pictures of the boys, and no pictures of the dancing that took place downstairs.  Just as well honestly, cuz it was sorta a hot, sweaty, crowded mess.

We finally caught a cab back to the cabin around 3, and then proceeded to make pizza, drink champagne, and dance around the kitchen until about 5am!!!  Our New Year’s Eve was really one of those nights that makes you feel like you need a vacation from your vacation!!

It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Birthmas!

I’m spending a lazy Sunday on the couch with my Lil Nugget drinking bloody marys with homemade dilly beans.  Yummm-o!  It’s been a busy week, but one of the best weeks I’ve had in a long time!

I turned the big TWO-EIGHT on Wednesday.  I did some of my traditional birthday activities…

  • Work a half day
  • Skip my planned noon workout for lunch
  • Annual manicure
  • Nap
  • Nachos, apple guinnesses, and free dessert at McNally’s with Bestie and the Hubby in Law!

My Sexy Russian wanted me to write about my mani…….its Plum Raven by Gelish with loose and chunky glitter with matte top coat.  Yay bloody mary!!!

I also got several bouquets of flowers so my house and office are full of blooms!

I may have also ordered myself some new birthday makeup.  May I present the new, limited edition Urban Decay Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette!

This gives me life!! Much lighter than my Naked 2 for more subtle smokey eyes! #magicsinthemakeup

The birthday celebrations continued on Friday.  Momma came to town to take me to lunch, and Bestie took me out for an epic sushi dinner!  It was also a big week for her, she finished her medical lab science program at the hospital….congrats on being done Bestie!!!!  It was a good week, and I’m feeling very grateful and loved.

Plum wine, white and fatty tuna, rolls, and a not pictured soft shell crab….EPIC!

Along with my birthday comes Christmas decorating!  Christmas was always been a major decorating event growing up.  I’m quite sure that Momma has a garland for almost every window, door, and mantle.  I don’t have quite that collection yet, but after two years, I think the living room decorations are really coming together.  I don’t really decorate the upstairs or my bedroom…..just the main room of the house.

While this is normally the highlight of my year, I’m still in a bit of a funk about it because Menards no longer stocks my favorite garlands.  So, if any of you out there have Menards connections….tell them I want my garland back!  Never the less, I soldiered on and made the house festive for the holidays.  Now that it’s all done, I never want to undecorate.  Why is that houses always feel much homier when they are decorated for Christmas?!  The general theme for my house is simple and traditional looking, with a sprinkling of snooty deer…..because if I were a deer I would be snooty!

Much thanks to my Momma for helping me redo my outdoor decor on a snowy Friday.  Also for helping me scrape ancient wax off some skis I collected from my Grandpa’s basement.

Skis and a matching tear drop for the exterior!

Snooty and jumping!

So snooty!  A birthday present from last year, and I love him!!

That’s pretty much it for the decorations.  There is a small pot on my back patio and a string of lights with lace and tulle in my bedroom window, but they aren’t super exciting and it’s too dark to get good pictures of them now.

In other news, last week, on Thanksgiving morning, we had a death.  Captain Jack, my beta, had a good run but the rum got the best of him and he went down to Davy Jone’s locker.  After my sushi date with Bestie on Friday, we ran to Petsmart and got a new fish.  I’m please to introduce…..Black Pearl!  Yes, he lives in a Crystal Head vodka bottle in my secretary.  Welcome to the crazy little buddy!

The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

For the second year in a row, I’ve hosted Thanksgiving at my house.  It always makes me a bit stressed, not because I can’t cook, but because I have an issue with timing!  Last year I was probably 10-15 minutes off my projected 2pm meal time.  This year….perfect timing!  I looked at the clock as we all grabbed our plates to dig in, and it was 2:00 on the nose!  Glorious victory!  So, we had an epic afternoon of eating and way too many leftovers because I’m also not super talented at planning how much food to make…..  Turns out a 10.5 lb. turkey is like 3x as much turkey as 5 people need, and I have essentially an entire 9×13 pan of cornbread bacon pecan stuffing left over.  I shall be eating well for several weeks to come I’m sure!  I still haven’t worked my way up to making pie, so I had Momma bring the pies, and Aunt N brought a couple salads, but otherwise I did everything myself.  Adulthood Level: Intro to Pro Skills!

The Feast!

The Feast!

On to the meat and potatoes so to speak……!

Have you ever just reached a point in life where you need a change?  It feels like everything you’ve done to this point is dumb, and somethings gotta give.  I wanted this year, 2015, to be different.  I was going to be bolder, do things that scare me, and karma was supposed to reward me!  Karma did not behave like she was supposed to, and all my brave moves fell flat on their faces.

I tried to go find him......Karma wouldn't help me!!! WTF KARMA!

I tried to go find him……Karma wouldn’t help me!!! WTF KARMA!

So…..I did the next best thing…..I changed my hair!  I had been meaning to do my traditional fall hair change anyway, but one change lead to another which let to another, and I just feel like a whole new girl!  It’s amazing how switching small things up can really change your whole outlook.

The changes started off simply enough.  I decided that it was time to be an adult and accept that fact that I don’t have perfect vision.  So, I ordered myself some glasses so I could actually see my tv and the world around me is a crispy, sharp way.  Like dropping a pebble into the mystical lake that is adulthood, that one event set off ripples of change.  After the glasses came the new hair.  The new hair brought new shampoo and styling products.  I truly believe deep down in my soul that everyday is a good hair day when your hair smells the way it does when you leave the salon!  Please, no one pop my bubble of hope about this…it’s science, I should know!  Actually, it’s probably more about the fact that the smell reminds me of the salon, and the salon is one of my favorite places.

My desire to have an epic bath time experience post Asshole Tinder Cowboy spurred me to buy fun new things from Lush.  On a whim I ordered a bath bomb in their new fall smell.  It seemed a bit questionable at the time (black pepper, patchouli, and vanilla) but I’m so glad that I did!  My new smell is Lord of Misrule!  It smells like everything that’s right with the world.  It’s a bit manly, a bit fall, a dash of vanilla, and just all around epicness!  If they ever discontinue that smell I shall be oh so sad.  So, I ordered a second order of bath bombs and the shower gel to try and get me through the year until next fall.  Cross those fingers people!

I’ve been wearing the same perfumes since college, and they are finally running out.  For awhile I debating just rebuying them because perfume shopping is actually the worst thing ever.  Things that smell good in the bottle smell like butt on you, and lord forbid you try more than one at a time and then have to spend the rest of the day smelling “like a French whore house”!  However, I did finally find one that I’m totally digging on.  I had originally passed on it several times, because I don’t like how it smells in the bottle.  On a lark I got a sample at Sephora and I’ve been wearing it everyday.  Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb is my new jam!  I’m adding it to my Birthday/Christmas list I think! (Cough, Cough….Hint, Hint, Hint)

It looks like a little hand grenade of awesomeness!

It looks like a little hand grenade of awesomeness!

It’s really amazing how sometimes it really is the random things that can change everything.  I’m sure eventually the newness will wear off, and I’ll run out of Lord of Misrule shower gel, but in the meantime I’m loving my whole new situation.  It hasn’t changed me as a person, it’s just changed the way I feel about my situation!

The thing that never changes……and will never change… that even when I feel like I can’t change the small things I have my friends and family to see me through.  It doesn’t matter how bad things get or how much success you have, your friends and family are always there to support, encourage, and congratulate.  That’s what I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving week, my friends that put up with my crazy and my family that puts up with my bitchiness.

My friends became the focal point of my trip to the hills the other week.  So here’s to my friends, the ones who had my back when I saw my college dream frat boy with his fugly new girl in the hills (Yes….I saw him out at the bars :/), the one’s who distracted me and kept my mind off the Asshole Tinder Cowboy, and the one’s who are always down for cheeseballs, beers, burgers, too many orders of chile rellenos, mystery flavor jello shots, and generally having the best time!

I also spent a great night with G and his gorgeous baby girl when I was in the Hills, but idk that babies belong on blogs cuz the interwebs can be a weird place.  She did however teach me how to “make potatoes” on the kitchen floor, and she amazed me with her technology skills.  18 month old me could not have worked a smart phone!  Technology on little one, and grow up to show the world what’s what!

The Goings On

For the past month or so I’ve been chronically sick.  What seemed to start off as a chest cold morphed into what I thought was allergies over the course of like 4-5 weeks.  Last Friday, when I woke up and felt like I had a 100lb weight on my chest again, I finally decided to go to the doctor.  I pay a ton of money every month for health insurance, but I never just go to the doctor.  However, when feeling like crap had started to become my new normal I decided I had had enough.

A couple blood tests and one hour later turns out I have a “moderate to severe” case of walking pneumonia.  I finished up my meds today, and I have to say I’m not sure that I’m feeling better.  Don’t get me wrong, I feel WAY better than I did, but I still feel like I have crap in my chest.  I’m not sure how good someone is supposed to feel once the meds are finished.  This is probably do to the fact that I never go to the doctor and get meds to begin with.  I did however manage to get through two of my normal workouts at the gym this week, and last night I slept all night without the help of NyQuil….so I’m hopeful that things are looking up!

You know you’re sick when you are coughing so hard you wake up out of the NyQuil coma and lay in bed watching the Corpse Bride on Netflix while your fingers tingle. Side note, I love Dennis Leary!

In more exciting news, I ordered myself a new pair of ‘nerdy chic’ glasses.  In related buzzkill news….they were supposed to arrive Saturday AND ARE STILL NOT HERE!!!!!!  I have about as much patience as a toddler on Christmas in these sort of situations.  To make matters worse, according to the tracking website there were supposed to have been delivered yesterday……I just want my new glasses!!!!!  I keep planning epic outfits to go with my new glasses and they keep being wasted on the fact that the glasses aren’t here!!!

I got “dumped” this week, so I have a new dating story to share, and hopefully I’ll get that written up next week before I head out to the hills on a mini vacation.  Actually, the mini vacation was partially the asshole’s doing, but check yourself before you wreck yourself if you think I’m gonna let some random douche canoe’s assholishness ruin my epic plans with friends!

This just made my life and totally fixed my week! Mostly because I was unaware that anyone other than my Chanchan called anyone a Douche canoe! My heart is so happy now!!

This just made my life and totally fixed my week! Mostly because I was unaware that anyone other than my Chanchan called anyone a douche canoe! My heart is so happy now!!

That’s sorta all I’ve got.  It’s been a bit of a blah week and for sure not the best week I’ve had.  Like everything, it could always be worse, and everything will sort itself out and get better.
